Admissions FAQ

How do I put my child on the waiting list?

Apply to the CPE through the Quebec Government website “La Place 0-5” at www.laplace0-5.com.

Who is eligible to apply? Can I apply if I am an alumni of Concordia?

Staff, students and faculty who are currently full-time with Concordia are given priority. Please read the detailed eligibility criteria here. Alumni or applicants outside the Concordia Community will only be considered if there are no eligible applicants from within the university.

How long is the waiting list?

The waiting list varies. Several factors are taken in to consideration, such as the age of the child and the Concordia status ratio that we need to meet.

When will I know if my child has a spot?

The director usually starts the registration process in May for the month of September. If your child meets the requirements of the center the director will contact you. While you are on the waiting list, you need to make sure you update your information when there are any changes (work phone numbers, home phone numbers). (If you fail to check into your account, your file will be archived and no longer visible in our lists.) In the rare instance a spot arises during the year the director will contact the next child on the waiting list that is match.

Why did my colleague get a spot for their child when I applied before him/her?

Each year we only have 12-14 places to fill. The registration process is quite complicated. The age of the child, the status of the parent at the university as well as the date of the application all play a role in fulfilling the spot.

Can I visit the center to see the facilities?

Unfortunately because we have such a long waiting list it is impossible to find the time to show everyone in advance. Once you have been accepted we will arrange for a visit.

Is it a $7.55/day CPE?

Yes, but you need to meet the eligibility requirements as per the Ministère de la Famille et des Aînés. Please note that as of January 2017 it will be $7.75.

What is the next step once I am informed that my child has a spot?

You will pick up your registration package and fill out all the necessary documents and provide the centre with certain documents such as your child’s original birth certificate, one parent’s original birth certificate and your child’s immunization book. We will then set up some visit dates where your child can visit his/her new classroom and environment.

What is the menu like at the CPE ?

You can look at the current menu to get an idea of the CPE’s menu. The center currently provides a Halal menu.
